Handsome Birthday Boy!!

Kaleb William Lamps, born March 31st, 2006 at 3:27 p.m., he weighed in at 7 lbs 2 oz (my biggest baby yet!) and he was 21 inches long. Kaleb this is your story. My pregnancy with you was by far my easiest, I didn't throw up at all until I had gull bladder problems. When I was 7 months pregnant with you I had gull stones, the Dr.'s didn't want to do surgery with my so far in my pregnancy so they tried to get me through it but that didn't work! Two days later we were at the hospital they decided to do the surgery and remove me gull bladder I was so scared, but daddy gave me a blessing and everything went smoothly. Once I woke up my Dr. told me that if they had waited one more day to do the surgery you would have died, and I would have been in critical condition, good thing for us that we were so adamant that something be done! I spent the rest of my pregnancy on bed rest because I was contracting so much, but other than that I loved my pregnancy with you!
You decided when you were ready to come, the Dr. had just checked on me to see the progress he figured you were getting ready, he left to make his rounds, within 20 mins of him leaving I was ready to push, the nurses told me to wait, but all I had to do was sit up and your head came out! One of the nurses ran out of the room in search of the Dr. and the other 2 nurses were delivering you! We were so happy when we heard you cry for the first time, what a wonderful sound!

On the 3rd of April we took you in for your well check, your belie Reuben levels were sky high, they sent us right to the hospital. You were in the hospital for 5 days, on the 5th day the Dr. came in and told me that your levels hadn't change with all the time you spent under the UV light, and because your levels had stayed so high for so long you would have brain damage, that wasn't news I wanted to hear. Later that day your dad and Grandpa J gave you a blessing within 2hrs of that blessing your levels dropped dramatically, they tested you to see if there was any damage and there wasn't, we went home that night!
Your 1st Easter!
You always slept in the weirdest positions (in fact you still do!)
First smile!
You were always my shy handsome boy!
Your 1st Birthday, you were a chunky little guy!!
Runnin down the road and Grandma and Papa J's in Idaho.

Although you did learn that baking soda does NOT taste good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And here you are now our big 4 yr old!! We love you so much, you bring so much joy and energy into our lives. Easter Outfits

Since we aren't going to going to church on Easter Sunday do to General Conference I let the kids wear their Easter outfits. My mom bought Kaleb's outfits, and Dana's sister Kelley sent us the girls outfits which I thought were perfect for Easter, THANKS mom and Kelley!!
Kisses.
I took this one of Ellie while we were waiting for Kaleb to wake up! I love my little Ellie Bellie.
After church we were putting chairs away and Ellie was waiting :) Look at those chubby wubby legs!
I love the look on Ryne's face she told me this as I took this pic "I am busy helping, I don't have time for pictures."
But then a minute later she was spinning in circles!
And last but not least my handsome boy Kaleb. He slept through the last 2 hrs of church and missed getting sung to in Primary (his b-day is on Wednesday), but he still enjoyed his birthday bag.

Projects

Remember these big old chunky couches? (sorry not the best picture) Well they are gone and I am so happy. Some of our friends (thanks Lisa and JP) gave us there old couch and love seat complete with slip covers, we got rid of the old ones ( I was so HAPPY) moved the furniture from the t.v. room into the front room. The couches also came with throw pillows but they didn't match my decor so I have been busy making pillow slip covers. Not the best pictures, I will take better ones tomorrow I was just so excited to get them done I wanted to share.
This picture really doesn't do this pillow justice it's gathered and I love it. Don't look too close this was my first time trying it and it's not perfect I think the fabric I used was a little thick, but all in all I thought it turned out. I got the idea from here.
The couch with the new pillows, it makes a big difference (at least it does to me)
Remember that table I sliced my hand up refinishing? Well I finally finished it (without anymore hand slicing).

It turned out nice, we really like it. Everything seems to fit the spaces better, and the kids have more room to play.
I am so much happier with our living spaces now. And I am having a lot of fun decorating too, there are a lot more things to come!

A little decorating!

What do you do with a dress that you really like but can't wear any more? Turn it into wall hangings and......

a pillow slip cover!!
I loved this fabric from my dress and it fits in my new decor so I decided to re-purpose it, I thought it all turned out awesome!!!I wish I could say that I came up with these ideas all by myself but I didn't I got them from one of my favorite blogs Make it and Love it, I got the wall hanging ideas here (I did it on a smaller scale and did 4 instead of 3) and the pillow slip cover from here instead of making it as a pillow and stuffing it I had a pillow form and did a slip cover instead which you can find out how to do here. I have been re-decorating my house and I have loved this gal's blog she has such wonderful ideas, it really gets my creative juices flowing. So I have about 4 more pillow's to do but they are all going to be different, I will post more pics when they are done!

Kids and other stuff

My kids so far have been pretty funny today. It started with Ellie waking up a 3:30 a.m.(not the funny part), I got her a sippy cup and we sat on the couch then all the sudden she was wired she started shaking her sippy to beat heck then she would whack herself in the head with it and laugh! She was having so much fun she did this for about 5 mins or so (I was falling asleep), her head must have gotten sore cause the next thing I knew I got whacked in the head, which really hurt. She then started hanging her head upside down on the couch and shaking it, she was cracking herself up I have never heard her laugh so hard, at the time I didn't really find it humorous cause she kept it up till about 5 and I just wanted to go back to bed.

I got back to bed around 5:30, dosed back off around 6 then the older kids came in, they brought with them the big bottle of gummy vitamins Ryne was telling Kaleb what colors were on the bottle, Kaleb decided to by funny whenever she asked him what color something was he would deliberately say the wrong color he had a great laugh. Ryne was getting frustrated she looked at him and said " Ya know your really being a big pain in the butt!" I couldn't help but snicker Kaleb responded with " well your a nerf!" the word he was actually looking for as you have probably guessed was nerd, that just sent me over the top it was really funny!! Laughing that hard is a good start to the morning, all though now I am over it and I have become not-so-nice mommy because my kids won't stop YELLING at each other.

In other news I have decided to change some of my decor a little bit, like my kitchen is going to get a new coat of paint (I don't know when it will happen hopefully it's not too far off) and also new decor for the walls, my living rooms are also going to change a bit, new curtains, couch covers my family room is going to get new paint as well, then there's the kids bathroom I have finally decided what color to paint it. We decided with our tax return this year we would get a fence and a storage shed, it's long over due I have been waiting for 3 yrs to get these items and I finally decided I am not giving them up this year. So once we get the storage shed and get the back bedroom emptied, I will actually have another room in the house that I can use as a bedroom! Originally I was going to turn it into the guest room but I have decided to move Kaleb in there since it's a smaller room and then I am going to give the other room a much needed make over and turn it into the guest room. I have so many projects going on it's a little over whelming, but they will get done with a little hard work. I am actually really excited about all the changes I will post pictures once everything is done.

It's dinner TIME!!!!

Ellie is usually a very clean eater, she doesn't make big messes, and she seems to try really hard not to get food all over her face. But apparently when we are having spaghetti no rules apply!! What a silly girl.
She was trying to share and she couldn't figure out why no one wanted any!

Makin her "squishy face" as the kids call it.
Do ya think she likes spaghetti?
It was tons of fun to clean up! Ellie enjoyed her bath as much as she enjoyed her spaghetti, the bath water was orange by the time I was done with her!!

Pinewood Derby

So I am a month late posting about our Pinewood Derby but hey, what can I do without a computer. Anyway so this is the cake I made, I thought it turned out pretty good the boys seemed to love it.
Ellie loved watching the cars raced down the track, she had so much fun clapping and cheering on the boys.
And there off!!!
All the boys were recognized for their efforts, everyone seemed to have a great time, and it was nice combining with another troop, I think it gave our boys a little more friendly competition.
Oh yeah and even Iron Man made a guest appearance!!! All in all I thought everyone had a great time, and the boys did really great on their cars.

From the beginning

The 18th of February was an unlucky day some people that live on my street. In the morning I had learned that my neighbor's house had been broken into, they took her money and some bullets but that was it, we are all pretty sure we know who did it but we can't prove anything, but we have since really started watching out for each other and have made it very clear that we are not going to sit around and allow such things to happen. The next thing that happened, happened to me I have been working on refurbishing some furniture one of the things is a kids train table that someone gave us, ya know what I am talking about it's a 2 sided table one side has a train on it the other side is empty. Well anyway I was trying to get the train pieces that were on the table off, I asked Dana what I should use and well he suggested a chisel! You must know were this is going right!? Well I could quite get the chisel under the train piece so I had one hand holding the table for support while I used the other hand to jam the chisel under the train piece, well that piece wasn't on there has securely as I thought, the chisel popped the piece off but didn't stop there it went right into my hand!!!! Now if you are faint of heart, you may not want to continue to read this part of the post and you definitely don't want to look at the pictures they are pretty gross!! Ok so onto the story, I cussed a little I mean come on a chisel just went into my hand and I figured since my kids were in the house I should do it before going into the house. Kaleb was , conked out on the couch cause he was really sick(more on that later) Ryne was at school, and Ellie was asleep which was nice cause my hand was gushing and I mean GUSHING blood. I felt like I was going to pass out, but I had to hold it together, I proceeded to wash it out which hurt really bad, I managed to get it cleaned up, the bleeding had slowed down but not stopped. Lucky for me Dana was close by picking up Kaleb's prescriptions, although I had no way of calling him cause my Internet had gotten shut off and I have vonage therefore I had no phone! Anyway it wasn't long before Dana got home, I told him what happen and said that I figured everything would be fine if he could just help me get the bleeding stopped and get it cinched together with band aides. Well he took one look told me to get in the car and we went to urgent care. I ended up getting 5 stitches, which I think was worse that actually cutting myself especially since part of the area wasn't numb and the gal didn't listen to me when I told her. Anyway while I was waiting for them to come stitch me up I remembered that my camera was in the diaper back so I took some pics, WARNING do NOT look at these pictures if you have a weak stomach!!

It was funny the nurses and Dr. kept asking me how it happened, and they said usually they get men that get those kind of injuries! What can I say, I like to work with tools and yes sometimes disasters strike. We did use it as a learning experience for the kids, explaining that this is exactly why we don't let them play with sharp things, and that even though I wasn't playing with the chisel I didn't use it properly and this was my consequence. After 10 days with stitches it healed great, I took out the stitches myself since I didn't want pay another co-pay and heck I have seen it done MANY MANY times! Marryne watched as I took them out and asked "don't you have to be a Dr. to do that!?" at which I responded no but if you don't know what you are doing it's best you let a Dr. do it.
When we got home we found our neighbor Doreen outside of her house in a little bit of a panic, she had had a son of a friend come and appraise her house, to see how much it would cost to move it, well he decided to take her wallet!!! Yes you heard me right, and to top it all off while she was taking care of that and running errands the same people that broke into her house the previous night broke in again, did I mention that they had taken her spare keys? This time they took her pain meds, and a few other things! Seriously poor lady 3 times in 1 freakin day!! After I learned about that, I learned that our babysitter and neighbor had to call an ambulance for her dad after he stopped breathing!!! We learned he had a stomach obstruction, gul stones and pancreatitis( sorry I know I spelled that wrong), he has been in ICU ever since, since he has been in the hospital he has gotten some infections that have made everything worse, and they found a cist on something but I can't remember what! To top the day off we took Kaleb to the Dr. and found out he had walking phenomnia(again spelling sorry!) and a double ear infection FABULOUS!!!! What a day that was, but in the end things seemed to work out the way they were suppose to.

It's been awhile

I haven't had my computer and Internet since the 18th of February! I am so happy to be up and running again. There are many things to update everyone on I will start with the most recent thing which happened this morning! I went into my bathroom this morning to discover this;Yup that's Marryne's hair, she decided that she "wanted short hair like when I was a baby" She cut the hair right in the front super short some of it is all the way to the scalp, then there are some nice chunky layers all over the rest of her hair. I surprisingly didn't yell and scream like you think I would, I just looked at it asked her why and proceeded to cry, she in turn started to cry and felt pretty bad. She asked me if I could take her to get it fixed I told her the only way to fix it was to cut all her hair off and shave her head, then she really started to cry I told her we wouldn't do that but that it was going to take a really really long time to grow back out. I have decided that there really isn't a point in getting to upset about it, I mean really it's just hair it will grow back and what's done is done no amount of yelling is going to make it grow back any faster. Oh yes and by the way no I didn't leave scissors out, cause this isn't the first time my children have cut their hair I keep the scissors up, Ryne decided to get into the first aid kit and get the little tiny scissors! So that was today's drama stay tuned cause there is a lot more where that came from! So many things have happened in the last few weeks, I have some pictures and many stories!
